PROCOLOMBIA invited international buyers from 26 countries, mainly those which have trade agreements, to present the export supply under Colombiatex 2012, organized by Inexmoda.

With the intent of taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the Free Trade Agreements recently entered into by National Government, PROCOLOMBIA will invite international buyers from the United States, Canada, Switzerland and 23 more countries to create business opportunities at Colombiatex de las Américas 2012.

The event will take place on January 24, 2012, at Plaza Mayor de Medellín, and will go on until the 26th of the same month.

"We are working on the identification of international buyers from the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Mexico to create business opportunities with Colombian exporters and to take advantage of the advantages offered by the Free Trade Agreements with these countries," announced Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA.

During the fair, which was organized by the Instituto para la Exportación y la Moda - Inexmoda - (Institute for Exports and Fashion), PROCOLOMBIA will hold a business encounter between Colombian exporters and more than 400 international buyers, who will have the chance to visit the exhibitor stands directly with previously established appointments. 

"This activity will allow them to get a more detailed view of the national offering, and the Colombian attendees to offer their products in a more personal and professional way," said Lacouture.

The offering on display will include materials for the manufacturing of these products, like fabric, embroidery, lace, elastics, buttons and zippers, among others.

While the invitation will focus more on the United States, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, the Andean Community of Nations and Mercosur, international buyers are expected from 26 countries focusing on the search for consumable materials and accessories, as well as the complete package, i.e. the preparation of products with Colombian materials, according to client specifications for later sale in the markets abroad. 

There are Opportunities in several international markets. 

PROCOLOMBIA found that in the past few years, the country has positioned itself internationally, thanks to the quality of Colombian materials.

Opportunities have been identified in countries like Peru, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Guatemala, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Korea, United States, United Kingdom, Russia and Thailand.

According to the information from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, based o DANE figures, in 2010, exports from Bogota reached US$311.7 million.

Between January and September 2011, sales reached a total of US$265.6 million, 18% more than in the same period in 2010.
