Colombia Strengthened Its Presence in Canada with Successful Destination Colombia Roadshow 2026
The Country of Beauty successfully brought its tourism momentum to Canada with the completion of the Destination Colombia Roadshow 2026, a multi-city initiative designed to connect travel professionals with Colombia’s most dynamic and fast-growing tourism offerings.
Organized by ProColombia, the country’s promotion agency, the roadshow took place from April 28 to 30 across Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, reinforcing Colombia’s positioning as a priority destination in the Canadian market.
The initiative brought together 17 leading Colombian tourism companies and attracted a strong turnout of more than 300 Canadian attendees (115 in Montreal, 100 in Toronto, and 80 in Vancouver), including travel agents, tour operators, airlines, media, and key industry stakeholders. Notable participants included major partners such as Air Canada, Air Transat, Avianca, Copa Airlines, and AmaWaterways.
The program featured tailored presentations, networking opportunities, and pre-scheduled one-on-one business meetings, fostering meaningful commercial connections and long-term partnership opportunities.
“This roadshow reflected our commitment to the Canadian market, which continues to show strong potential for growth,” said Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia. “By connecting our tourism partners directly with Canadian travel professionals, we created opportunities to build trust, share knowledge, and ultimately drive more travelers to Colombia.”
Colombian Suppliers Met Canadian Buyers
Participating companies represented a broad and dynamic cross-section of Colombia’s tourism sector, including All Reps, Aventure Colombia, Chaska Tours, Colombia Travel Operator, Colombian Details / 5 Senses, Colombian Journeys, Faranda Hotels, Go & Travel, Hotel Cocoplum Beach, Impulse Travel, Macondo DMC, Miramundo Travel, Panamericana de Viajes, Papayote DMC, Transfers & Tours, Travel Solutions DMC, and Tucaya Colombia.
Together, these suppliers showcased Colombia’s diverse tourism portfolio, offering Canadian buyers direct access to products and experiences aligned with evolving travel trends.
A Diverse Destination Aligned with Market Trends
The roadshow highlighted a wide range of high-growth segments, including sustainability, community-based tourism, luxury travel, culture, sun and beach, wellness, nature and adventure, cruise and nautical experiences, as well as Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).
There was strong representation from Colombia’s key tourism regions, including the Greater Colombian Caribbean, the Western Colombian Andes, and the Eastern Colombian Andes, demonstrating the country’s ability to offer highly diverse, multi-region travel experiences within a single trip.
A key highlight across two of the three cities was the immersive and experiential format of the events. Through interactive activations and large-format screen presentations, attendees were able to engage with Colombia’s landscapes, culture, and biodiversity in a highly visual and memorable way. These experiential showcases were widely recognized as a standout success.
“Canadian travelers are increasingly seeking experiences that are meaningful, diverse, and authentic,” Caballero explained. “With year-round tropical weather and convenient direct flights of just five hours, Colombia is uniquely positioned to meet that demand. The Country of Beauty naturally brings all these elements together, allowing Canadian travelers to easily combine multiple regions and experiences in a single journey, from Caribbean beaches to Andean culture and biodiversity-rich landscapes.”
Tourism Growth and International Recognition
The Destination Colombia Roadshow 2026 took place against a backdrop of sustained tourism growth. Colombia has welcomed around six million international visitors annually in recent years, reaching approximately 22 million visitors between August 2022 and December 2025.
This unprecedented growth reflects a broader transformation that has taken place over more than a decade, positioning Colombia as a safe, accessible, and experience-rich destination. Enhanced infrastructure, improved connectivity, and increasing global awareness have all contributed to this upward trajectory.
International recognition from leading publications such as Lonely Planet, Condé Nast, and Forbes has further reinforced Colombia’s reputation as a must-visit destination for 2026.
Innovation and New Travel Experiences
As part of the roadshow, Colombian partners presented new and emerging experiences that reflect the evolution of the country’s tourism offering. Among these is the expansion of luxury hospitality, highlighted by the opening of the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena. In addition, the country is celebrating the first anniversary of river cruising along the Magdalena River, developed by AmaWaterways, which is creating a new way to explore Colombia. These itineraries connect destinations such as Cartagena and Barranquilla, with immersive stops in historic towns like Mompox, combining culture, history, and sustainability.
“This is a defining moment for Colombia’s tourism industry,” Caballero noted. “We are not only seeing growth in visitor numbers, but also in the quality and diversity of experiences we offer, from luxury and wellness to community-based and sustainable tourism.”
